Edoardo Vassallo appointed in the arbitrators lists at HKIAC and KCAB International
We are pleased to announce a significant milestone for Edoardo Vassallo, partner and founder of VPB Studio Legale Associato: his recent appointment to the Panel of Arbitrators of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) and, just weeks later, to that of the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB International).
Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre
HKIAC is one of the world’s leading arbitral institutions and has historically served as a primary reference point for the resolution of international commercial disputes in the Asia-Pacific region and globally. Over the past 40 years, HKIAC has administered more than 13,000 cases involving parties from over 100 jurisdictions across Asia and beyond. Approximately 80–90% of the cases administered by HKIAC are international in nature.
According to the Global Arbitration Review’s prestigious Guide to Regional Arbitration (2025), HKIAC is included in the “White List” of the world’s most reputable arbitral institutions. In 2023, HKIAC registered 281 new arbitrations, with an average case value of approximately USD 60 million, nearly double that of the previous year.
Korean Commercial Arbitration Board
KCAB International, the international division of the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board, has administered approximately 7,000 arbitration proceedings and 15,000 conciliations throughout its history, establishing itself as a leading centre for the alternative resolution of international disputes. It plays an increasingly prominent role in the management of cross-border disputes across the Asian region and beyond.
The Global Arbitration Review’s Guide to Regional Arbitration lists KCAB International among the institutions deserving of particular attention, highlighting an average proceeding duration of just 200 days — an efficiency benchmark that KCAB is committed to maintaining regardless of case complexity. KCAB has established an International Arbitration Committee composed of prominent figures in the field. Furthermore, South Korea, a civil law jurisdiction, has been described as the potential “Switzerland of Northeast Asia,” supported by a strong pool of internationally-minded lawyers who are now leading figures in the world’s principal arbitral organisations.
Edoardo’s appointment to these leading Asian institutions recognises his more than twenty years of experience in domestic and international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, and is part of VPB’s strategic focus on Far East markets, where the firm maintains an office in Hong Kong.
